How do I play Scramblish?

You get a small set of letters and a board of hidden words. Build words from your letters and press Enter. Words on the board fill in; other real words you find are bonus words that fill the bonus bar.

What does the bonus bar do?

Every valid word fills it. When it fills completely, one hidden letter on the board is revealed for free to help you along.

How many rounds are there?

Five rounds a day, each with its own timer. Finish all five to complete today’s puzzle. A fresh set arrives every day.

Yes. Every word comes from a standard English dictionary. Nothing is made up, and offensive words are filtered out.

How to play

Each round hands you five or six letters and a small crossword of hidden words. Tap or type letters to build a word, then press Enter. If the word is on the board, it fills in. If it is a real word that is not on the board, it still counts as a bonus and fills your bonus bar. Fill the bar and the game reveals a letter for free. Clear every word on the board before the timer runs out and move on to the next round.

The one word that opens the board

Every round hides one word that uses all your letters. Find that long word early and you often expose the shorter ones for free, because they share the same letters in the same places. When you are stuck, reshuffle the tiles. Seeing the letters in a new order is usually all it takes.

Bonus words are never wasted

A valid word that is not on the board does not clear a slot, but it is far from useless. Every one of them pushes the bonus bar closer to a free hint, so keep typing anything you can spell. On a tough board, a run of small bonus words is often what cracks it open.
