Onet Fruit Classic
Onet Fruit Classic is a connect puzzle, not a match three. You are not swapping anything and nothing falls. You pick two identical fruit and remove them, provided a legal path exists between them.
Everything in the game rests on what counts as legal, and it is a rule people play for hours without ever stating clearly to themselves.
How to play Onet Fruit Classic
- Click one fruit, then click another of the same kind.
- The pair clears if a path can be drawn between them.
- The path may only travel through empty squares, never through other fruit.
- The path may bend at most twice.
- Clear the whole board before the timer runs out.
The two turn rule
That last condition is the game. A path from one fruit to another can go straight, it can turn once making an L, or it can turn twice making a U or a Z. It cannot turn three times.
This is why two fruit sitting close together often refuse to connect while two on opposite sides of the board join without complaint. Distance is irrelevant. The number of bends is everything.
The border counts as empty
A path is allowed to leave the grid and travel around the outside. Two fruit on opposite edges can almost always be joined this way, which is the single most overlooked route in the game.
Tips and strategy
Clear the edges first
Pieces on the outer ring have the most escape routes, because the space outside the board is free to travel through. They are also the pieces that will still be connectable when the board is nearly empty, so removing them early is spending your easiest options first.
The stronger habit is the reverse: take the pieces trapped in the middle while there is still open space around them, and leave the edges for the endgame.
Reading a jam
- Find a fruit that appears exactly twice and check whether those two can see each other.
- If they cannot, ask which single piece is blocking, and whether that piece has a pair of its own.
- Clearing the blocker is the move, even when it looks like a detour.
- If two pairs each block the other, take whichever opens the most space.
Time
The clock is generous at first and stops being generous once the board thins out, because the surviving pairs are the awkward ones. Spend the early minutes efficiently instead of clicking whatever you see, or you will meet the hard part with no time left.
Mistakes
- Assuming two adjacent fruit can always be joined. Adjacent is not the same as connectable.
- Forgetting the route around the outside of the grid.
- Using a shuffle the moment you cannot see a move, rather than checking each duplicated fruit in turn.

Frequently asked questions
How many turns can the connecting line make?
Two. A straight line, one bend or two bends are all legal. Three bends are not, which is why nearby fruit sometimes refuse to connect.
Can the path go outside the board?
Yes. The space around the grid counts as empty, so two fruit on opposite edges can usually be joined around the outside.
Is Onet Fruit Classic the same as mahjong?
It shares the idea of removing matching pairs, but the rule is different. Mahjong is about which tiles are free, onet is about whether a path with two bends exists.
What do I do when no pairs are visible?
Work through each fruit that appears more than once and test the route deliberately, including the way around the outside, before reaching for a shuffle.
Is it free?
Yes, free in the browser with no download and no account.
